This is the month to take a look at your living situation and make any changes you have been meaning to do. You may plan a big change, like to move house or to stage a massive renovation, or you may make small improvements and repairs, like ordering a paint job, attending to windows or a roof that needs attention, or you may simply be determined to clear out clutter. This month you may buy a new piece of furniture, like a comfy new couch or a beautiful new rug in a gorgeous color, or simply fill up on pretty new linens, thanks to white sales going on now in many stores.

Your timing is perfect. Due to a very rare buildup of five planets in your home and family sector, there is no doubt that you will be fiercely centered on home / real estate / family matters. We have not seen a lineup of planets like this in a long time. Pluto, the mighty Sun, and Mercury are already in your home sector as the month begins, and Venus will join the others in this house on January 8 and stay in this, your home sector, until February 1.

It is always vitally important to see where Venus is moving, Libra, and what kind of conversations this planet is having, because Venus is your ruler. The fact that Venus is among the other guests at this party in your fourth house of home tells me that your whole mind and heart will be on the home or property project on your list. You may see a good appreciation to your property with any improvements that you happen to be making because Saturn, the planet of stability and longevity, will be in beautiful angle to Venus and Pluto, and both of these planets are associated with finance and profit. It is alternatively possible that you may see money from your mother or mother’s family, as Venus is also associated with women and is touring your the fourth house of family now.

In terms of timing, your biggest progress will occur once the majestic new moon arrives - her entourage will stand and accompany her when she appears in the doorway to greet the other planets on January 11. All new moons are strong for two weeks, but are strongest in the three days after appearing, and then gradually lose energy and light as the days progress.

Planets in Capricorn suggest you may be doing a renovation or changing the structure of your house or other property in some way. With Pluto there, you may be working on the floors of an apartment or the basement of a house, and you may also be addressing the plumbing and improving it in some way. It is alternatively possible that you may be selling or buying real estate now - yours or an estate left to you - and it appears you will be pleased with the deal you make. If, for any reason you don’t like the deal (as I cannot see all that is in your individual chart), you may have to wait until May or June to finish it up.

In the meantime, see what comes up on January 16 and 17, when Venus, your ruler, will first conjoin financial Pluto and the following day when Venus receives signals from stabilizing Saturn. Both will be superb days for you.

Venus is also associated with beautifying measures and embellishment, so if you are decorating one or more rooms now, make your selections from January 1 to 18, with your best days for making your choices on January 9 (thanks to Venus’ beam to Neptune) and, as mentioned above, on January 16 and 17. Capricorn rules antiques, so you may be buying some beautiful, valuable, old furniture or decorative items, including (but not limited to) china, silver, or handmade quilts that have historical value. In fact, if you are buying a house now, you may be buying an old, valuable house or estate that may even be considered a landmark building. This all sounds wonderful, dear Libra.

Mercury, now in your home sector, is about to retrograde next month from February 23 to March 17, and that is not a time to buy, sell, sign papers, or buy important furniture. Additionally, that period would be a horrible time to buy electronic items and appliances, so do any kind of important shopping now, in January.

If you are not centered on a real estate matter, you may be thinking a lot about one of your parents, most likely your mother, and thinking of ways to help her. With so many planets in your home sector, you have the right month to make choices for the benefit of your parent. Don’t let things linger and fold into February, for as said, Mercury will go retrograde February 23. You never want to run up too close to the date Mercury turns - keep a distance!

Now let’s turn to romance, which will become a massively important trend for you after January 19. First, the Sun will move into your solar fifth house of love, romance, and children on that day, joining Mercury, who will have arrived a day earlier to get everything ready.

Your first indication, however, that you are in a spectacular time for love and fun will be January 22, when Mercury will signal both Uranus (surprises from your partner) and Jupiter, now in divine-for-Libra sign of Gemini, indicating you may be taking an exciting trip with your one-and-only very soon, to a foreign country.

These same areas - international travel and positive surprises from a partner - will again be lit up when the Sun signals Uranus and Jupiter on January 24 and January 25, two outstanding days for romance, luxury and foreign travel, too. You will feel very, very fortunate in life on these days, and I here I am not referring to winning money, but rather, lucky in a much broader sense, where life begins to look very sunny and almost everything seems to go your way. Friends will be very, very supportive and have all kinds of good ideas for you.

Mars moved into your fun fifth house on December 25 last month and will remain there until February 1, making January fantastic. In addition to the days noted above, January 22, 24, and 25, also circle January 4, at the very start of the month, when Mars will send golden beams to Jupiter in a “trine” (heavenly angle) - this too may cause you to travel, or at the very least, plan your next trip.

Jupiter is currently in your travel sector for the first time in twelve years, and is set to stay until June 25. You have not felt the full effect of Jupiter’s gifts yet, but are likely to do so soon. Jupiter entered Gemini last year on June 4 last year (a wonderful sign for you to host this generous planet) but was just getting settled when it started to slow down. It went retrograde on October 4 and stayed retrograde until now. Jupiter will wake up and go direct on January 30 - from then until June 25 you will see the full effect of his power and might!

If you hope to conceive a baby, you may do so in late January or in February. You will have a fabulous new moon in Aquarius (your love and baby sign) on February 10 next month, so things won’t be over at month’s end - just the opposite. Things are just heating up! This year, Valentine’s Day could be spectacular.

If you are single and hoping to meet someone new, all these same aspects in late January and in February just mentioned will be your friend as well. Stay optimistic! Be sure to be out and about January 25, for sure, and also on January 26 - let’s talk about January 26 now!

At month’s end, at the full moon in Leo (7 degrees), Saturday, January 26, plus or minus four days, you may be attending a wonderful, pampering gathering with plenty of friendly faces surrounding you. That full moon will be one of the best of recent months, chock full of happy news and fun. I give this full moon a full four stars for the fact that it falls in Leo and suggests you will enjoy pampering, sumptuous surroundings. I am particularly excited because the full moon comes with so many happy surprises (thanks to Uranus in perfect angle) and purely happy, luxurious experiences (thanks to Jupiter). You need something to look forward to doing - over the weekend of this full moon, January 26-27, it appears you will have it!

This full moon will give extra oomph to those Libra born September 29. Those Libras have had a hard time recently, so I am happy to report this news! This full moon will also benefit those with natal planets at 7 degrees (plus or minus five degrees) of Leo, Aries, or Sagittarius, or Gemini, Aquarius, or Libra.

Wow, dear Libra, it looks like your personal life is about to improve in a big way both in terms of home, family, and personal relationships to having more fun with friends, a partner, and the possibility of a baby and exciting travel. It’s about time. ALL Libra have had a hard time. You are turning a corner and leaving so much of the hardships behind. This is a turning point month, so enjoy all that it holds for you. Be ready, dear Aries. You get bored easily - this month won’t give you a moment to have nothing to do. Just the opposite: You are about to jump on your skateboard and be busy every second. The first three weeks will bring you your very best career opportunities of 2013. Your tenth house of fame and honors will be brimming with planets, with Venus, Pluto, Mercury, the Sun, and new moon all working to help you raise your profile in your industry in an impressive way. You won’t have anything like this again this year, so it will be imperative that you make this period count for you.

It starts with the new moon, January 11, which will appear in Capricorn in your tenth house of professional progress. Over the past seven weeks, from mid-November 16 to December 24, you likely made enormous progress laying the groundwork for your new professional future. Mars is Aries’ ruler, and so what Mars does “counts” more for you than most. It’s been two years since Mars has had time to help you scale new career heights, so November and December had to be an important period to plant seeds. Now, with the majestic new moon arriving January 11 with an entourage of planets in tow, you will move into phase two.

Think of a new moon as the opening of a door and the start of a new phase, not an ending. A terrific job takes months to get, and even more time to prove the range of your skills. All the ingredients are there for enormous success, so take this new moon seriously and give your career all you’ve got to give. When Venus and Pluto combine energies on March 17, you may be discussing quite a lucrative offer, as Venus is the natural ruler of your house of salary.

The moon will take the energy of the planets circulating in the air and bring it together so that you can use it. The Sun will make it easy for you to get access to authority figures. Venus will help you make a great impression - influential people will want to help you. Mercury in Capricorn will give you the mature words to say that will advance your standing in regard to a candidacy for a new position. Pluto will put your name in the running, and again, allow you to get your foot in the door. If you hope to interview for a new position or get a promotion, the right spot will open up just after January 11. If you are in a new position now that you got recently (most likely in November or December), then you will get a chance to strut your stuff and show all that you can do.

I am excited about this new moon because Saturn will be brilliantly supportive of the new moon, indicating that opportunities that come up will help to stabilize your life in a very secure, comforting way. I should mention that a crown of stars is a very positive development as it means a whole group of planets will be singing the same song (in your case, “Career progress!”) Capricorn does not blend easily with your Aries Sun sign, BUT those Capricorn planets, in a square angle to your Sun (90 degrees away), will help you turn a corner in life and help you to move in a new direction. Those planets will make you very alert, which is great. You will be on your toes, and all your faculties will work at a high level. Also, these planets will be what astrologers call “highly elevated” in your chart, so they will dominate. Dear Aries, this is your month to shine!

You will start to see things happening before you get to January 11, but there are good days and bad days all thrown together into the same cake batter. Let me show you what I am looking at, so you can see which days are the good ones and which ones to avoid. (If you have my Astrological Year Ahead 2013 calendar, you know these days already!)

January 3 will be a difficult day, when Mercury and Uranus will be at odds, and so on this day, no news is good news.

The following day, January 4 could be one of your favorite days. Mars and Jupiter will be in heavenly trine and support all your aims. Remember, Mars is your ruler, so the actions that Mars takes always have a strong impact on your life. On this day, he is meeting Jupiter for lunch. Mars will be in your friendship house, so a friend will be instrumental to your luck on this day. It’s also due to be a happy day to see friends or to go to a party, sporting event, or club activity.

But wait - Monday, January 7, is not good, when Mars and Saturn will work to block one another’s aims. Mars will be coaxing you to “Go!” and Saturn will be urging you to “Stop!” - Saturn will win. This is due to be a frustrating day when you’ll long to act on something, but will find that you simply cannot, and you will feel frozen. This may not be bad - waiting is often wise because it forces you to think through things.

So as you see, January 4 would be a good day for an interview, but stay away from January 3 and 7. I feel things will begin to happen for you after January 11. There is something else you should know, and it involves Jupiter.

Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, has been in a weak, retrograde state since October 4. Once Jupiter goes direct on January 30, you will see things moving ahead more assertively, and you will also see financial benefits too from that point on. Keep your eye on Jupiter, because once he goes direct, you will see progress. You will benefit from one of these areas: writing, speaking, negotiating, translating, selling, publicizing, editing, or through travel. The third house, where Jupiter is based, also rules siblings, so you may gain in some way through your sister or brother. Watch to see if you pick up any clues in the two days on either side of January 30, the day Jupiter will go direct. Jupiter will be in perfect angle to your Sun from January 30 to June 25 - that’s your golden period for all the areas I just named.

This month won’t be all about work and no play, not by any means. Mars will be in your eleventh house of hopes and wishes all month and will certainly have you hearing from friends, and also making the acquaintances of new friends. Mars will be in Aquarius, a very humanitarian, community-oriented sign, so you may be drawn to help a charity on a large scale (say, by heading up a committee) or on small one (do a 2K walk for the cure). Either way, you will feel happy about your participation if you do get involved, and if you are single, this may be a good way to meet new romantic interests. Politics are another possible area of gain, if you are moved to help a political candidate or a leader already elected to a government position.

There will be more wonderful developments in late January. The full moon, January 26, will be one of your most tender and romantic of the year. All full moons have an aura of several days, before and after, and this full moon is spectacular in the days before.

First, on January 24, you have the Sun and Uranus trading signals - Uranus is in Aries, and the Sun is in Aquarius, bringing you a wonderful surprise from a friend. What a spectacular day! With the Sun in Aquarius, you might want to buy a computer or other electronic - you have your day. It’s perfect for acquiring something new! (Hurry, for Mercury will be retrograde next month from February 23 to March 17, not a time to buy any electronics.)

On the next day, January 25, Jupiter will signal the Sun - this is one of the best days of the season. Gorgeous! The same elements that involve communication, travel, and a sibling (mentioned in the paragraph about Jupiter) will be brought to the surface. You will find this a happy day to have appointments or a first date, to take a trip, have an interview, give a speech or take a test, or huddle with your sister or brother.

The full moon of January 26 will encompass the energies of January 24 and 25, too, for that is what full moons do. So as you see, a full moon is not just for a day but can encompass several days and several aspects. It acts like an umbrella over those other days, and that’s why this full moon, in Leo, 7 degrees, is so outstanding. It will light your house of true love, so this should be ultra-romantic. Leo is the sign of pampering and luxury, so whatever you do on this full moon should be memorable and very special. Jupiter will begin to “station,” which means it will be in the process of turning direct and will actually turn on January 30. As you see, the whole week of January 24-31 will be golden.

Saturn will be a bit difficult at this time, with Saturn in hard angle to the Sun, so concurrent to what is happening at this full moon, you may have concerns about taxes or a payment due to a creditor. You seem to be under some stress from Saturn, but don’t let a financial concern completely dampen your enthusiasm for what will happen for you socially, most likely over the weekend of January 26-27. This weekend will be filled with joy. It’s your patch of blue sky, created just for you.

This will be a big month for finances, and you seem to have your mind set on getting a grip on your income and outgo. I say this because in January we will have a gathering of five stars in Capricorn, a conservative, careful, disciplined sign that is wise about money. All five of the heavenly bodies will be gathering in your second house of financial income, possessions, and wealth.

You have two financial houses; this one is where you earn the money, not win it, so it’s important to note that difference. I always feel it’s the best place to have helpful planets (like you do now), for if you can earn a million, you can set your sights on earning two million in short order.

Pluto, the planet of regeneration, is already in this second house sector, and so is the Sun, ruling authority, and Mercury, planet of contractual agreements. Venus, a planet also associated with money, is about to join these others at this special gathering of planets, and she’s due to arrive on January 8. Your big moment will be when the new moon arrives last, fashionably late in her satin white gown, on January 11.

The moment a new moon arrives in any month, the music begins, and all the energy of the planets that are accompanying her will begin to swirl around the beautiful new moon. As all new moons do, she will instantly allow you to access the potent power in the air. Most months, the new moon arrives with one or two planets - not five! This is indeed a big month.

In astrology, everything happens after the appearance of the new moon - not before it appears - and the energy of that new moon will always continue for almost two weeks (more precisely ten days) after that new moon appears, in this case, from January 11 to 21. Each day that passes, however, the new moon gradually becomes weaker until, by January 21, it has been completely spent its energy. It is imperative that you take action to raise your income just after the new moon arrives, on January 11, or in the week that follows, January 14-18.

This new moon of January 11 plus ten days will be your very best of 2013 for raising your income. It’s imperative that you ask for a raise soon after January 11, or if self-employed, to generate new business for your goods and services. You may also sell something very valuable, and because Capricorn rules things of value from the past, it may be a piece of estate jewelry, a piece of art, or a house that has been designated a landmark.

Pluto is associated with resources that come from under the ground, so something buried deep in the earth or that is usually found in a cave may benefit you now - oil, perhaps? Diamonds? I am not sure how this ties in to your financial benefit, but perhaps you do, so I mention it for that reason.

Saturn will be very friendly to Pluto and Venus, which is a big help, for this long-term thinking planet will help you to stabilize your finances and lower debt. While you wait for the new moon to occur, get all your reasons why you deserve a raise or better salary ready to present to the VIP you will meet with soon. The force is with you, so be confident!

Keep in mind that next month, from February 23 to March 17, Mercury will be retrograde, not a time to sign papers, to accept a new position, or buy / sell anything of major value, including electronic items or appliances. In January you can enjoy high productivity, so use it while you have it.

Capricorn is a conservative sign, so throughout financial talks, remain practical and realistic. This is not a blue-sky month - it will reward those Sagittarius who can deal with budgets and deadlines and who come across as responsible, mature, and eager to get ahead. The month’s heavy emphasis on money will also give you the impetus to gather your tax records together for your accountant in preparation for your tax return. Excellent. One of your first opportunities will come in the first week of the month, on Friday, January 4. On that day, Mars and Jupiter will be in ideal sync, making the ensuing weekend (January 5-6) perfect for a romantic getaway with your significant other. Choose a small, charming, and private bed and breakfast in a beautiful mountainous setting for needed rest and loving time together.

Romance and travel seem to be linked now in a very enchanting way. I say that because you will experience a string of days leading to the full moon at month’s end that will increase your chances for a memorable trip with someone whose love you value very much.

The full moon, January 26, will be your big moment, when travel far and wide may happen magically. This full moon will receive a beautiful vibration from Uranus in your fifth house of true love, so you may decide to fly away quite spontaneously. Or, you may travel and have quite surprising events at your destination!

Not only that, but Jupiter will support this full moon too, and because Jupiter is the planet of happiness, AND your ruler, this is significant - this trip spells fun from any side you look at it! Jupiter is in your partnership house, covering your marriage partner or an established, long-term partner. This trip seems special in every way!

If your birthday falls on November 28 plus or minus five days, you will benefit the most from this lovely full moon.

Before you get to the full moon, which is operative plus or minus four days, you will enjoy several wonder-days that I would like you to note.

The first comes January 22, when you are likely to hear exciting news involving your rising status in your career. Mercury, which rules the highest point in your chart, the cusp of your solar tenth house, will receive shimmering vibrations from Uranus and your ruler, Jupiter. Your luck may be triggered by a creative idea you offer up - you seem golden now, so expect the best possible response. If you have an agent, lawyer, or other middleman, that person will be VERY helpful to you.

If you are single and hoping to find love, or if you are attached and hoping for a baby or more attention from your significant other, you are in luck, too. The interplay between the Sun and Uranus on January 24 should bring a thrilling experience that could cause goose bumps up and down your spine. January 24 is very special! If you hope to start a family, you can begin trying this month, near January 24, if that fits with your schedule.

Are you contemplating the idea of refreshing your looks for the New Year? Make your initiation over the first week of January, from January 1 to 7 when Venus will be in Sagittarius. I like you initiating your salon / barber shop visit on January 4 best, if you will be in town.

Later in the month, another super day, worthy of four gold stars (!) will be January 25, when the Sun and Jupiter will be at perfect angles. On this day, so much good news comes to you, and you finally see the tide has turned in your favor. Again, a partner will be part of the happy news you hear. Travel keeps coming up as important to bond the relationship. On the heels of all this, the full moon arrives the next day, January 26, sending you off on a trip you’ll long remember. Dear Sagittarius, you have just found yourself in a golden month. Make the most of it!

On January 30, Jupiter, which has been in weak, retrograde motion all month, will turn direct for the first time in four months. (Jupiter went retrograde on October 4, and has remained so all this time.) If you have put off an engagement or marriage, or have no idea what to do about a current relationship - even a close business tie - you will find the answer after Jupiter moves direct.

If you are married and feel you would appreciate more time and attention from your mate, if you mention this at month’s end (January 30), you are likely to be heard - and changes may be made that you find gratifying.

If you are not happy and feel there is no hope for the relationship, you may decide to leave, but that possibility seems less likely. The end of January is a joyous time, so if you do leave, it would bring on a feeling of liberation. You will still have Jupiter in your partnership sector until June 25, lots of time to meet others who may be more appropriate partners for you. See how you feel, dear Sagittarius.
